Bolnore Village Primary School

SEND

A Bolnore Core Value is Aiming High. We aim for all children to make good progress, including children with Special Educational Needs and/or with Neurodivergence.
Teachers at Bolnore adapt their teaching to make sure your child gets their next steps.
A child has SEN if they have a learning difficulty which calls for Special Educational Provision.
Please see the “SEN Information Report” below for how Bolnore approaches SEN. This is a document for parents and carers.
The “SEN Policy” is a document for staff on the processes and procedures within the school.
All staff in school are responsible for the children with SEN in their care. Mr Billy Marchant (below) is the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), and oversees SEN Provision in school.

Please see the flowchart below for who to contact about queries around SEN:

Accessible for All
Our school is fully accessible, housed in a two-storey building with wheelchair access, including lift, wide corridors and doorways, and disabled toilet facilities. We strive to make our learning environment accessible and welcoming to all.

Mindful

As an NHS-supported Thoughtful School, we place a strong emphasis on the mental health and wellbeing of our children. We have two trained mental health leaders and a dedicated play therapist who provide vital support to children facing traumatic events. Our SENCO Assistant works closely with families, providing early help and collaborating with parents, outside agencies, and Family Support Workers. This ensures that when families are in need, there is a comprehensive team in place to help and guidance.

At Bolnore, we aim to create a school community where every child thrives, and every need is met with care and attention.

PARENT ENGAGEMENT & SEN PARENT CARER INVOLVEMENT

The school follows a complaint procedure and this will be followed for any SEND complaints.

If you have a query or complaint regarding your child and their special educational need please initially talk to the class teacher/phase leader. This query will then be discussed and resolved or passed on to the SENCO.

If you feel this issue has not been dealt with sufficiently or you still need further advice please inform the Head teacher or governing body.
