Year 1
Life in Year 1
Welcome to Year 1! The year ahead offers many fantastic opportunities for all the children. They will experience many highlights during their start to Key Stage 1, whilst building on and consolidating what they learnt in Early Years. Your child will be supported in their transition from Early Years into Year 1 in order for them to become more independent and to experience more structured learning as the year progresses. Children continue to develop their Forest School skills, and have the opportunity to immerse themselves on many fun and educational trips and experiences linked to our six topics across the year.
Transition
Children will begin their transition into Year 1 at the end of EYFS with visits to their new classrooms and meeting their new teacher.
Parent communication
Parents are welcome to talk to class teachers before and after school or to arrange a meeting. Children’s learning is shared through the Parent evenings, the Seesaw App, newsletters and Find Out Friday’s which is on the first Friday of every month.
Home learning
Children will be given pre-learning information and a topic overview which will provide ideas for work to be carried out at home. This work is then celebrated in class.
